Why we’re doing it

This work will help ensure that customers in Regina’s Central Business District have the power they need and will help us find and fix power outages faster in the future reducing outage times.

Our progress so far

Since the Urban Core Infrastructure Improvements Program in Regina City began in 2012, we’ve invested $28 million. To date, we’ve worked on duct banks, substations, padmount switch upgrades and technology upgrades.

Activities for 2018 will run from April to December.

Minimizing the impact to you

Some of this work will cause temporary inconveniences like road restrictions, noise, heavy construction traffic and power outages. Our crews and contractors will do their best to inform customers and the public about the impacts of the work ahead of time. To help keep disruptions to a minimum, certain types of work will be scheduled for evenings, weekends and holidays when possible.

Respecting the local environment

SaskPower crews and contractors will follow all regulations for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. No impact to the local environment is expected.

Benefits to your community

Doing this work will allow us to continue to provide reliable power to our customers in Regina.

The estimate cost of this program in 2018 is $9 million.
