Why Switch to Energy-Efficient Products?

Energy efficiency means using less energy to get the same job done. And in the process, saving money and reducing pollution. Many products, homes and buildings use more energy than they need and sometimes even waste it.

By choosing LED lightbulbs and energy-efficient appliances, you can lower your energy use. Look for washing machines and dishwashers with the ENERGY STAR® rating to save even more. These appliances are made to use less water and energy. This helps you get great performance while saving important resources. This not only helps in lowering your monthly bills but also makes energy more affordable and sustainable for everyone.

Making the switch to energy-efficient products is a smart choice for your wallet and the planet. Plus, you can achieve significant energy savings and save on power bills. Don't miss the in-store sales at our participating retailers to help make this transition more affordable.

Efficiency Tips

Did you know that:

  • Lighting accounts for about 17% of your home power costs? Switching 1 light bulb to an energy-efficient bulb can save you more than $100 over its lifetime.
  • Lighting controls like dimmers, sensors and timers, will also help you manage the amount of energy used, making sure you’re only using power for lighting when you need to.
  • Smart thermostats ensure efficiency by putting you in control of your home’s heating and cooling systems, even when you’re not home! They allow you to make changes remotely, use sensors to learn your behaviour and they can even adjust themselves based on outside conditions. An ENERGY STAR® certified connected thermostat can save you at least 8% of your home's annual energy use.
  • Ceiling fans improve air circulation, making your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter. In summer, set the fan to rotate counterclockwise for a cooling breeze. In winter, switch to clockwise at a low speed to push warm air down. This simple change can reduce your reliance on air conditioning and heating, leading to significant power savings.
  • Faucet aerators create energy savings by reducing the flow of water from the tap. Less flow means less energy is needed to heat the water. This can help save up to 30 per cent over a year on water heating costs.
  • ENERGY STAR® washing machines include cold wash settings that will help save on water heating costs, as the majority of the energy used by washing machines comes from heating the water. ENERGY STAR® certified washing machines use about 20% less energy and about 30% less water than regular washers.
