Saskatchewan’s power system is changing, and SaskPower is inviting the public to learn more about what the utility considers when planning for the future. 

Driven by a growing demand for power, current and evolving Federal regulations, and changing customer expectations, SaskPower must replace many of the generation facilities that the province has relied on for decades.

“As we move through the clean energy transition, we know that the decisions we make today will shape our province for generations to come,” said Kathryn Pollack, Executive Vice President of People, Safety & Indigenous and Corporate Relations at SaskPower. “It’s important that Saskatchewan residents have the opportunity to learn about the supply options we use, ones we are considering, and the costs and environmental impacts of those options.”

The Power Talks: Energy Education Series is part of SaskPower’s Future Supply Plan – 2030 and Beyond engagement project. Now in stage three of the five-stage project, over 15,000 residents have participated so far.  

Each Power Talks session is an hour long and will feature subject matter experts from SaskPower. The sessions all run from 12 to 1 p.m. on the following dates: 

• Sept. 20 – The Business of Power: Cost, Competitiveness and Funding the Clean Energy Transition
• Sept. 26 – Power and the Environment: Impacts, Trade-offs and Making Sound Choices
• Oct. 4 – Connecting Power Grids: Imports, Exports and Interties
• Oct. 12 – Customer Renewable Program: Alternatives to Self Generation
