transmission lines

If you’re an industrial customer and need a new service connection, we can help! To start the process, please make sure you meet one of the following:

  • You’re looking for a new load connection of 5 megavolt-ampere (MVA) or more and connecting to a transmission voltage of 72 kilovolt (kV) or higher.
  • You’re looking to change, upgrade, or add to an existing transmission service.

Load Interconnection Process

Understand the new service connection process below before applying.

Processing Time: 7 calendar days

Submit a Transmission Interconnection Service Request Application complete with all required information. Once we receive it, we’ll notify you.

Processing Time: 15 calendar days

We’ll review the Transmission Interconnection Service Request Application. If information is missing, you must provide it before we can advance the request to the next stage. We may meet with you in this stage to ensure the scope of the project is understood.

Processing Time: 120 calendar days

We complete a Load Interconnection Assessment to identify potential options, estimated costs, and a target in-service date for the new connection. You’ll review the assessment and decide whether to proceed or cancel the request. We’ll also facilitate a meeting to review the assessment with you.

Please note: If you accept the cost estimate defined in this assessment, you don’t need to complete stage 4.

You’ll enter into a Definition Phase Agreement, where we’ll produce a Definition Phase Summary Report. You’ll review the report and decide to proceed with a Cost Recovery Agreement or cancel the request.

You’ll enter into a Cost Recovery Agreement with us for the construction and associated costs of the work required.

Construction activities begin.

Project enters construction and both parties fulfill their obligations to meet the in-service date. Final invoicing is based on actual construction costs.
