SaskPower CEO Rupen Pandya Elected to Canadian Nuclear Association Board

June 19, 2024

SaskPower President and CEO Rupen Pandya has been elected to Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA)’s Board of Directors.

“The nuclear industry has deep roots in Canada and has never been more important than it is today,” said Pandya. "I feel fortunate to join such a knowledgeable and experienced board, and I look forward to providing my perspective in the months and years to come.”

Pandya’s term on the board began effective June 18, 2024, and will run for two years.

The CNA has been the national voice of the Canadian nuclear industry since 1960. Working with members and communities of interest, the CNA promotes the industry nationally and internationally, works with governments on policies affecting the sector and endeavours to increase awareness and understanding of the value that nuclear technology brings to the environment, economy, and daily lives of Canadians.

SaskPower is currently assessing the viability of nuclear power from Small Modular Reactors and plans to make a decision in 2029 whether to proceed with construction of an SMR in Saskatchewan. If SaskPower proceeds with the deployment of SMRs, it would make Saskatchewan the first green field jurisdiction in Canada to site a reactor in decades.
