Let’s Talk Nuclear Power!

Join us for a live call-in event on November 27 from 7 to 8 pm to hear the latest on the small modular reactors (SMRs)project.

Hear from experts about:

  • why we’re considering adding nuclear power from SMRs to our power supply mix
  • determining a location for the SMR facility near Estevan
  • how the SMR technology works…and more!

If you live near Estevan, you may get call or a text from us about this event. We don’t want you to miss it!

We’re on track to exceed our goal to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 50% from 2005 levels by 2030. Right now, we’re working on how to make even deeper cuts to GHG emissions – like achieving a net zero future.

We’re exploring a range of low or no emissions power source options, including nuclear power from small modular reactors (SMRs).

Our research shows that power generated from SMRs has the potential to be:

  • Reliable power, available 24/7
  • Cost-effective
  • Clean energy

The Long-Term Supply Plan Draft Summary includes 7 lessons learned during our internal supply planning process and the public engagement process.

Along with the lessons learned, we shared 8 recommendations that will help guide our future. Lesson 4 emphasizes the importance of a diverse supply mix to reduce risk and keep our options open. To get there, 2 actions are identified related to our work on nuclear power.

Read all 7 lessons learned, view the 8 recommendations and learn more at saskpower.com/engage.
