We started construction on March 15, 2021.

- Break ground – Early 2021
- Piling – Spring/Summer 2021
- Foundations and Undergrounds – Summer/Fall 2021
- Site goes vertical – Early 2022
- Transmission line energized – Spring 2023
- Steam blows and initial start-up – Spring 2024
- Power station in-service – June 2024

Construction Progress
- Spring 2024 – We’re performing steam blows in mid-March to properly start up our new equipment for the first time. During this process we clean excess debris in steam lines to ensure the newly installed steam turbine can run smoothly.
- Winter 2023 – The project is now 95% complete. We’ve finished flushing the oil systems for the gas and steam turbines. We’ve also completed chemically cleaning the heat recovery steam generator. We’re continuing to insulate and connect the temporary piping to be prepared for steam blows in a few months.
- Fall 2023 – The project is now more than 90% complete. Project work hours have exceeded 2 million. Construction turnovers have begun. Lube oil and closed cooling water flushes are in progress. The water treatment plant is operating.
- Spring 2023 – The project is now 87% complete. Switchyard, power line and large transformers are powered up. The stack is erected and the air-cooled condenser testing has begun. Piping and cabling work continues through the powerhouse. Operator training has commenced in the administration building.
- Winter 2022 – Powerhouse enclosed and heated. Mechanical and electrical installations continued. 10 of 14 fan decks/heat exchangers were placed for the air-cooled condenser. The administration building is nearly ready for occupancy. Switchyard construction and City of Moose Jaw process water connection complete.
- Fall 2022 – Steam turbine and generator arrived. Steel erection and insulation installations continue to support enclosing the building. Powerhouse mechanical and electrical installations in progress. Two of 14 fan decks/heat exchangers were placed for the air-cooled condenser. Switchyard construction began.
- Spring 2022 – PCL Industrial starts erection of the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG).
- Winter 2022 – Supreme Steel from Saskatoon begins steel erection of the powerhouse building and site goes vertical.
- Fall 2021 – Allan Construction continues underground and foundation installations. Quorex Construction starts construction of the administration and water treatment plant building with Innovative Piling Solutions.
- Summer 2021 – Allan Construction began excavations and installation of underground pipe. Soletanche Bachy Canada (SBC) completed 50% of the piles. Inland Concrete from Moose Jaw supplied concrete for the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) foundation.
- Spring 2021 – Allan Construction started excavations and poured the foundation for the heat recovery steam generator sump. Soletanche Bachy Canada (SBC) started piling activities.
- Winter 2021 – Burns & McDonnell mobilized to site. Allan Ventures began site clearing and preparation activities.
- Fall 2020 – Nekaneet First Nation blessed the site of the new power station. Watch the video below to learn more. KMS Construction Ltd. from Tuxford, SK completed road upgrades for SaskPower. KMS Construction also installed the first phase of the sanitary, water and storm infrastructure for the City of Moose Jaw.
